Design Henna Mantere

Master of Arts 2004

Henna Mantere represents the Ostrobothnian culture in Jokipiin Pellava. She graduated from the Master of Arts programme in the University of Lapland. She has been in teaching, designing and sales positions both in industry and in the cultural sector. Mantere has an ideal of rootedness, i.e. she wants to bring forth something new but in the same time respect the old traditions. For her expression is typical, as it is for her enchorial ideals, the need to make beauty out of scantiness (see also www.hma.fi)

The cornerstones in Jokipiin Pellava production, as seen with the eyes of the designer, are traditional material and modern design. Henna’s fresh and colourful Luonto line brings luxuriously rough linen terry up-to-date to fit modern bathrooms. The colours in this line are easy to combine: select one, two, three or four colours – they all fit together.

Other patterns that Henna Mantere has designed for Jokipii include products such as sauna textiles Saunapolku, Mökkipuuha and Sieniretki.
